Unsung Zeros

three hours and one ticket later
after plying in a barn
in a used auto lot
where it was so cold
i could not
fret the notes just right
we headed back to our hometown
where we'll dream of better things to come

ten minutes after finishing
we're packed up to go home
and face another day

enough to cover food or rent
